A New Year Begins

It is three days until classes start for the new school year. This will be my second year at Moody Aviation in Spokane, WA. This year will be focused on maintenance and other exciting things, but that’s not what I want to talk about today. After a week of traveling across the country, two days for Ohio to Washington, and then another half day for across Washington to see my sister, I was blessed in the opportunity to see how varied the country truly is, from the corn on Indiana to the stunning landscapes of North Dakota to the mountains and desert of the western part of Washington. Each area was beautiful and unique. The guy I was driving across the country with, also named Jacob, has similarly adventurous spirit so as we were driving in Montana, we decided to explore a little and do a big of gravel road racing…. at legal speeds of course.. but what was so amazing was we saw a part of the state you can’t see from the highway, rather than seeing the normal, we were in a valley, wondering if my car would be able to get us back out, drifting around corners, seeing cool new flowers and watching farmers driving across their fields towards their cows. it was so beautiful. Sadly those red roads were left behind in Montana, and while there are similar experiences to be had in Washington, they will not be similar to those adventures…. who knows… maybe we need to go back… and next time ill get out my camera and do better than just my iPhone.
